Mayor Inderjit Kaur, Mc Chief Dr Gupta Launch Poster And Flag Off Awareness Vans To Encourage Solid Waste Management Across City

With an aim to spread awareness among masses regarding solid waste management, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta launched a campaign and flagged off awareness vans from MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Monday. Further, Mayor Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Dr Gupta also unveiled an official campaign poster designed to communicate information regarding solid waste management and canal based water supply project.
MC Joint Commissioner Vineet Kumar, Superintending Engineer (SE) Sham Lal Gupta, SE Praveen Singla, SE Ekjot Singh, SE Parul Goyal among other officials were present during the ceremonies. Specially equipped awareness vans and e-rickshaws have been deployed in the city. The awareness vans will move through various parts of the city to educate residents on proper waste handling practices and promote effective solid waste management.
The vans are fitted with audio-visual systems. The officials stated that Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company (PMIDC) has also engaged a dedicated agency to conduct a range of outreach activities aimed at raising awareness among residents. Further, field teams will also conduct door-to-door awarneess campaigns in residential areas, markets etc to spread awareness among masses.
In addition, a series of community engagement activities—including public meetings, school/college programs, drawing competitions, street plays etc will conducted in the coming time under this campaign. Meanwhile Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta appealed to the residents to support the authorities in solid waste managenent across city. They appealed the residents to stop dumping waste at open spaces/plots.
